focus on what you can do
Right now we are hearing about all the things we can’t do: go out to eat, shop, gather in groups, go to church, touch our faces, and go to work (some of us). While all these things are needed for a healthier society, focusing on the negative can get us down. It seems we can’t do anything anymore, which can lead to feelings of isolation and helplessness. So today, instead of focusing on what we CAN’T do, we’re going to remember all of the things we CAN do, and lift our spirits a bit.
We CAN:
- Walk the dog
- Read a book
- Bake a treat
- Play with the kids
- Practice our faith
- Find ways to work creatively
- Complete projects we keep putting off
- Learn a new skill or hobby (I just bought knitting needles!)
- Choose to look for the good in situations
- Make sure we get enough rest
- Play an instrument or listen to music
- And much more!
Everyone’s CAN list will look different, but what’s important is that we don’t get stuck in the negative. While we should recognize the things we can’t do at this time, we should focus on the things that we can do. Take back a little of your power and choose to focus on the good parts of life. They’re still there...you just have to take the time to see it.
